April 2007

Wow. 3 months since my last installment. I didn’t think it had been that long. But regardless, spring is here, World of Wheels has come and gone and for some the cruising season is underway.

World of Wheels always seems to mark the start of the show season here in Winnipeg. This year’s event was no different, and no matter how much you told yourself you weren’t going to go, somehow you probably found yourself at the convention center at least once over the weekend.

For me the $11 for this years show was worth it to have a look at Dave Frost’s long awaited Ford Ranger. Rumors have been swirling for years about when this truck would finally debut. The frame appeared at Garden City in 2005, leading many to think that World of Wheels 2006 would be the date. No such luck. But 1 year later in 2007 and Winnipeg got a glimpse of its cleanest minitruck to date. So congrats to Dave; The hard work and time has paid off and at the same time you’ve given some hope to everyone else with a long term project on the go. It’s nice to see that there is some light at the end of the tunnel. I’m sure the ranger will gather not only local coverage but international attention as well. (Provided he can keep it in one piece long enough to make it to the Shocker). It’s almost scary when you see a truck that clean and detailed and the owner tells you that it’s still not done.
